Jack starts of the issue with a brief history of the LE&E and how his research uncovered ambitious plans for the LE&E's grandparent, the New York Central Railroad, and how that grandparent influenced the LE&E's construction. At this time, the area was primarily agricultural so the railroad was vital to getting the produce to market. I walked with bold courage, trusting in the arm of Omnipotence; guided by the unchangeable North Star by night, and inspired by an elevated thought that I was fleeing from a land of slavery and oppression, bidding farewell to handcuffs, whips, thumb-screws and chains.
