My reply is negative (I was a Montessori kid and it wasn’t for me. Classes are taught entirely in the target language; in addition, learners live with a family where everyone uses only the learners’ target language. This is the house …………….. my grandfather built. Communicative language teaching has brought a renewed emphasis on the role that semantics plays in the definition of language. These holidays have become increasingly more popular in Central and South America in such countries as Guatemala, Ecuador and Peru.

Native speakers tend to intuitively learn the rules before they learn the concepts. That is an OLD statistic from the 1980's. My estimate is more along the lines of: 2 million people are using ASL on a daily basis. However, now, linguistic inquiry uses the anthropological method to understand cognitive, historical, sociolinguistic and historical processes that languages undergo as they change and evolve, as well as general anthropological inquiry uses the linguistic method to excavate into culture.
