When I think back to our first interview, I realize that through her I have come to see teaching in ways I could not have imagined. Some issues arose and some insights came only because of the depth and length of our study. Kerrie's switching schools opened up a remarkable set of issues of importance to teacher development that only a longitudinal study could have revealed. Over the course of the years, a friendship grew that opened up aspects of Kerrie's life and thinking and also offered the opportunity for us to develop new insights.
For case study research of this kind, both verisimilitude and transferability are crucial.
